The Nyanga Community Policing Forum has criticised the killing of former Democratic Alliance Proportional Representative (PR) councillor Mlungisi Noludwe.

He died on Thursday 10 March after being attacked by unknown people in Boystown on Monday 7 March.

He was allegedly shot several times and died in hospital from his injuries. The motive for his killing is unknown.

Noludwe’s death follows that of former ward councillor Nolitha Bolitye and her predecessor Elese Depouch.

Bolitye was shot and killed outside her home in July last year, while Depouch was also shot and killed outside his home in March 2018.

CPF secretary Dumisani Qwebe described the death as a loss to the community. He appealed to the community to work with the police to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. “The police and community stakeholders are trying so hard to fight the crime in Nyanga precinct. It was unfortunate for Noludwe to die so early. The community was still expecting a lot from him,” said Qwebe, adding that Noludwe was an activist who was fighting for the poor people.

Nyanga Police Station commander Brig Vuyisile Ncata confirmed the incident. He said a case of murder is being investigated.
