A young athlete from Site B is appealing to the community to assist him with funds to fulfil his dream of representing the Western Cape at the South African Gym Games that will be held at Joni Bach Sports Centre in Pretoria, Gauteng.

Simamkele Tumtumana (17), from W section is an u-17 rope skipper, and is keen to be part of the tournament.

The tournament is expected to start on Wednesday 5 until Monday 10 October.

Speaking to Tumtumana’s coach Fezile Mxasa for Jump It Academy in Site B, he urged the community and local business people to assist Tumtumana citing that his success depends on them.

He said Tumtumana is supposed to jet off to the tournament on Tuesday 4 but they are doubtful because they are struggling with funds.

“We need only R10 000 for flight, registration and accommodation. His parents are unemployed and they can’t afford such an amount of money. And also as a club we don’t have,” said Mxasa.

He stated that before Tumtumana was selected to represent the province he won in the Western Cape Gymnastic Championships that was held at Western Cape Sport School in Kuils River in August.
