The case of the three men accused of killing five people at New Monwabisi Park, Endlovini in Khayelitsha is scheduled to resume at the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court today (19 May).
In a bizarre twist, last Friday, 13 May, two of the accused, Themba Kobe and Sipho Mgijima, both arrested recently, appeared without Madoda Zwayi, the first man to be arrested in connection with the incident.
The suspects are believed to have shot four men and a woman execution-style on Monday 14 March in the area.
They are facing a range of charges including five counts of murder.
Kobe, who was nabbed in Lower Lufuta, Cala in the Eastern Cape, also faces charges of being in possession of a firearm and ammunition illegally, and these are allegedly linked to the mass murders.
It is believed Zwayi was not transported from Pollsmoor prison, where he is currently incarcerated.
Last week, Prosecutor Advocate Madoda Peter told the court the state will oppose bail as Mgijima was arrested in Cala and Kobe has a pending case of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition against him.
