In trying to bring positive change in the area of Lwandle, an art and culture festival was hosted at Lwandle Community Hall on Friday 14 October.
The festival is aimed at taking youth away from bad influences and inculcating a positive mindset.
On the day different music groups, and dancers all came to the stage to showcase what they have up their sleeves.
Young people came out in large numbers to enjoy the different performances of different artists.
The event was organised by Ward 86 art forum in the area alongside, ward committee member, Yandisa Magagana.
Magagana said they needed to bring positive change in the community and music has that influence.
“In the past 10 years we have never had a festival of this nature in our area. As artists we engaged the then councillor candidate (Xolani Diniso) as we had felt neglected in our area,” he said.
“It was a cheerful day in Lwandle to have young people under one roof enjoying themselves. We hope this festival will continue for many years in the area, so that artist benefits,” said Magagana.
Ward 86 councillor Xolani Diniso urged young people to stay in their lane so that they don’t ruin their future through bad behaviour.
“With the festive season around the corner, we need to stay ahead and encourage young people not to engage in bad habits that will affect their bright future. We encourage all Ward 86 residents to embrace the raw talent of young people from our own area and support them,” said Diniso.
