Gugulethu police officers are investigating the murder of the deputy chairperson of the Gugulethu Community Policing Forum, who was ambushed in her home on Sunday 10 December.
Provincial police spokesperson Capt FC van Wyk said the incident occurred around 02:45 at NY110, where an adult woman was shot and killed. He stated the motive was currently unknown. “The suspect(s) have yet to be arrested,” he said.

One of the leaders of Gugulethu Spiritual Crime Prevention Forum (SCPF), who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of harassment, said he was devastated by the death of Lulama ‘Guffy’ Dinginto. He said her death was not only a loss to her family but the community at large.
The leader described Dinginto as a person who dedicated her life to working for the betterment of the community. “I’ve known her for a long time. We were working closely as I was in Gugulethu SCPF and she was in the CPF. We usually met in community meetings and other activities. She was a soft-spoken person. I was shattered when I heard she is no more.”

The leader urged the law-enforcement agencies not to leave any stone unturned and appealed to the community to work with the officers to ensure the perpetrators were brought to book.
