Two for Joy were unable to bring joy to the Lwandle community after being knocked out of the semi-finals on Sunday 6 November by Sea Side Spurs.

The club from Lwandle was hopeful that it will win the semis and get a promotion into the SAB League which is below the lucrative Motsepe League.

Two for Joy started on the right footing after defeating Quemic United from Mitchell’s Plain in the quarter-finals on Saturday 5 November 1- 0.

The encounter took place at William Herbert Sports Complex in Wynberg.

But Two for Joy’s happiness was short-lived as they suffered a 5-4 defeat after the match ended two all.

Two for Joy were the first to hit the back of the net which was later canceled off just before going to halftime.

Sea Side Spurs came back and took a lead after halftime before Two for Joy also hit the net to level up matters between the two sides.

It was penalties that decided the encounter. Two for Joy believes it could have easily won.

Sandiso Sabiso Nongauza, Two for Joy coach and team manager, said the match was the easiest of the two games they played before the semi-final.

“We are utterly disappointed to be knocked out at this stage,” he said. “This was the game we’re supposed to have won with ease but lady luck, if there’s such a thing, was not on our side.

“We will have to go back and compete again in our Helderberg LFA (local football association) and try to win the league again. Our players are disappointed with the defeat but as management, we tried to motivate them not to despair,” said Nongauza.

He said they would go back to the drawing board and regroup again.
