Lagunya RFC will have to pull out all stops when they meet Sir Lowrians in their Promotion League encounter on Saturday 17 September in Sir Lowrys Pass. Lagunya beat Northerns in Elsies River by 32-22 and is on a roll.

Hamediehs of Athlone lost one game against Masiphumelele by 29-25 and made up for this loss by beating Violets on Saturday by 22-16 on their home ground.

With only two more matches over before the Top 9 champion is being crowned on Saturday 8 October it will all go down to the wire.

Van der Stel-Evergreens (VDE) from Stellenbosch is the log leader by two points and will finish their campaign this coming Saturday against Atlantis in Atlantis.

VDE beat their neighbour Blakes by 21-10 at home and will watch the rest of the competition from the sidelines.

Masiphumelele from Noordhoek can put a spanner in the wheel in determining who will be the top four teams in the competition by sneaking in by the back door if any of the current top three stumbles in the next two weeks.

They still have to play two more games – Northerns this week at home and Atlantis away. Masi has 14 points on the log and if they manage to win their remaining two matches with a bonus point they will finish on 24 points.

Blakes and Violets from Lansdowne both have 19 points on the log, but Blakes played one game less and Blakes have two tough games on the trot before their campaign comes to an end. They are in action on Saturday against Hamediehs in Athlone and on Saturday 1 October against Sir Lowrians in Stellenbosch.

No matches are played on Saturday 24 September due to the Springbok Test against Argentina. The semi-finals of the Super League A, B and C will commence on Saturday and all matches are played at City Park. Clubs are unhappy about them playing at City Park as they were hoping to benefit from the gate-takings at their home grounds to at least have money in the kitty for the pre-season
