ACJ Phakade Primary School in Nomzamo hosted Grade 12 learners from different schools on Saturday 15 October to motivate and wish them well ahead of the upcoming National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
On the day, the primary school learners were motivated by former learners at the school, who are now successful in different fields.
Learners were also in high spirits as they mingled with some of their friends from other schools, most of whom they did not see in a long time.
School principal Thobile Majingo said they were inspired by the event’s success in the previous years. He said the school is doing extraordinary things. “As primary schools, we need to know that our matric results are our reflection as well. These children need to know we still care about them and what is happening in their lives,” he said.
Majingo said they wanted to see their former learners succeed in life and become better people than they are.
“In total, we had 114 learners. We wanted to relax and know we still care about them. They were surprised to know that as the school we were still keeping track of their well-being,” he said.
Majingo said children need to be motivated and know they can achieve anything in life if they put their minds to it. He said they were happy to see the learners in different school uniforms.
Majingo said he could not sleep following the event, with calls of gratitude from the parents.
Kusa Mabena, a learner at Khanyolwethu Secondary School said they were shocked when they were informed about this function. “I felt very special, and I was happy to see people I have not seen in a long time. Our teachers showed they care and are not just teachers but parents as well,” she said.
Mabena said she was happy to get motivation from her previous teachers.
