A renowned disc jockey from Samora Machel will jet off on Wednesday 22 March to perform in South Korea.


A renowned disc jockey from Samora Machel will jet off on Wednesday 22 March to perform in South Korea.

Simphiwe Sihawu, affectionately known as Mr Thela in music circles, described the tour as a dream come true. He will perform at Afro Fever Club in Songtan City, South Korea on Saturday 25 March.

The gig is his first international experience. “I still don’t believe it. I wish I could fast forward to those days.

“I don’t know what to expect in terms of the crowd, but I promise the South Africans present I won’t disappoint them,” said Mr Thela.

Mr Thela, who has one album ‘Tronics Land Series1’ under his belt, said he featured various artists including Bethusile Mcinga, Mel Bacela, Rhass, Dacardo, Assiye Bongzin and Boss Nhani, to mention a few.

The 24-year-old DJ and producer mentioned DJ Black Coffee as his role model.

Mr Thela said his career started with Gqom music in 2016. He began as a DJ and learned to be a producer in the music industry.

Mr Thela has also featured on albums for various artists like Mcinga, Mshayi, Rhass, Mapressa, Peace and Xola Toto. He said he shared the stage with renowned DJs like Kabza, Dlala Thukzin, DJ Sithelo, Young Stunna and Oscar Mbo.

Mr Thela stated that music is in his veins as he grew up singing in Sunday school.

He advised other young upcoming DJs to stay focused to succeed.
