The Siyo family, from Section 6 in Mfuleni, is trying to find answers after their son mysteriously went missing on Saturday 1 October.

Lutho Siyo, a Grade 12 learner at Westbank High School, was last seen by his family when he left with friends for a party believed to have been in Driftsands on the day of his disappearance.

He has not been seen again. This has left his family worried.

His mother Noluvuyo Siyo told City Vision the outing was the first for her son.

Noluvuyo said she last saw Lutho around 18:00 on Saturday. He left as someone who was not going too far.

“The friends he left with tell us they went to a party in Driftsands and slept there. They then say they came back on Sunday morning where they were chased by four men while approaching Covid informal settlement,” he said.

“According to the friends, it was three boys and one guy but none of them knows what happened to him. So as things stand we are still searching for him without any trace,” she said.

The worried mother added that the “friends” were new to her. She had never seen them before.

“Even among them, some say they woke up on Sunday morning and he was not there. The stories we are hearing are not the same and worries us a lot,” she said.

Noluvuyo said Lutho was last seen wearing white cap, white long sleeves, a jacket, a black jean and white tekkies.

Mfuleni spokesperson W/O November Filander said a police missing persons file was opened Monday 3 October.

Filander said there were no new developments.
