A gospel artist from E section in Khayelitsha, Inathinkosi Jimta, is set to release another new album titled Ukhona Uthixo on Monday 4 June this year.

The album is going to be launched at Luhlaza High School in Khayelitsha on Monday 4 June. The 12 song album is his seventh.

Jimta described gospel music as something that is living within him.

The 36-year-old artist, originally from Keiskammahoek in East Cape, said he started singing at an early age.

“I started singing at Mlungisi Primary School in Stutterheim. From there I joined local group Sinenjongo Gospel Group and I moved to Mlungisi Gospel Group both in Keiskammahoek.

“In 2009 I was the back-up vocalist for both the late Nobandla and Phumla Mfene in their solo albums,” said Jimta.

He said in 2010 he met Sizwe Sandi who is his current manager.

“Sizwe is the one who introduced me into the industry. I released all my albums under his company known as ZeroForOne Trading and Event Management. My first album Phaphamani was released in 2010. The second album titled Ungumhlobo was released in 2014. Then in 2016, I released my third album Unabantu bakho Thixo. In 2017 I released another album Kubo bonke ooThixo, that was a CD together with DVD. In 2018 I released another album Izibele. It was also a CD with a DVD. In 2019 I released another album known as Endinonelele also on CD and DVD. Then my last album, in 2020, was Ngcwele yengcwele,” he said.

Jimta declared that he composed all the songs in his albums. He described his music as traditional gospel.

“Most of the time I write about my personal life experience and life in general. To me writing the song depends on the mood. Some of the songs I woke up with in a dream,” he stated.

He described the popular gospel singer Bethusile Mcinga as his role model.

“I shared the stage with various artists like Veliswa Skeyi, Khayisa, Bethusile Mcinga, Kholeka Dubula, Luleka Mhlanga and Phumla Mfene etc,” he stated.

Like most young and emerging artists Jimta performs at taxi ranks, malls and churches in a quest to promote his music.

Jimta stated that his album is accessible on all media platforms. He sells his CD for R100.

Anyone who wants to book him or his album can call him on 078 650 4511.
