A Philippi man handed himself over to the police after he allegedly stabbed to death his wife on Monday 25 April.
The incident occurred in Tony Yengeni Street, Browns Farm.
Nyanga Community Policing Forum secretary Dumisani Qwebe described the incident as devastating. He said the motive behind the killing is still unknown.
He said the perpetrator doesn’t deserve to stay in the community.
“According to the report that we received from the community the couple were renting the house in Browns Farm. They said the couple was looking fine and there were no signs of family problems,” he said.
Qwebe said they don’t condone any act of criminality in the precinct. He stated that the CPF are behind the victim’s family. “We are saying no bail for the suspect. He must rot in jail. One life lost is one too many,” said Qwebe. He appealed to the officers not to leave any stone unturned during the investigation.
Provincial police spokesperson W/O Joseph Swartbooi said the circumstances surrounding the death of a 21 year female in Brown’s Farm, Philippi on Monday 25 April at about 15:30 is under investigation.
He said Nyanga police were called to the scene at Tony Yengeni street, where they found the victim with stab wounds to the neck, body and right hand. He stated that the victim was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.
“Nyanga police are investigating a murder case. A 28-year-old man was arrested,” said Swartbooi.
