The Nyanga Community Policing Forum (CPF) has applauded Nyanga officers for a great job after they arrested seven young men at Brown’s Farm, Philippi on Wednesday 15 March.
They were arrested for possession of stolen property.
Nyanga CPF secretary Dumisani Qwebe said the officers did a great job.
He said the culprits were among those who were terrorising the community. He urged the law to take its course.
“We believe many of these perpetrators are still at large. What saddens me is that the majority of them are young boys who are supposed to be at school. They are between the ages of 13 and 17.”
Qwebe described the arrest as a warning to other criminals.
He identified Brown’s Farm as one of the hotspots of Philippi.
“These criminals target mostly Uber drivers and Facebook traders. They need to tell us whom are they working for, because we believe there are people working behind the scenes forcing them to commit these crimes.”
Qwebe urged the community to work with the police and inform them about any wrongdoing or suspicious-looking thing happening in their area.
