Samora Machel residents are still shocked following the mysterious death of an unknown woman in the area on Friday 22 March.
They are now calling on the police to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to the book.
The shocking discovery happened at one of the houses on Samora Machel Road.
The deceased was reportedly found in the toilet. The cause of the incident is still unknown.
One of the eyewitnesses, named Andy, described the incident as bad. He said they suspect that the deceased was raped.
“The deceased was in a kneeling position and her face was inside the toilet pot. Her face was smeared with human excrement and she was half naked. We suspect she was raped and killed,” he said, adding that there were no visible scars on the body.
He stated that the deceased was unknown.
Andy described the incident as the first of its kind in the area. “Samora is well known for crime and carjacking, but this incident has left everyone shocked,” he explained.
When City Vision asked about the owners of the house where the body was discovered, Andy said he was not sure because when he arrived on the scene, the community was already there, but he did not see them. “It was a scary thing to watch. I didn’t want to come closer to the body but my sister saw it. She (his sister) was the one who told me how the deceased looked,” he said.
Provincial police spokesperson Sgt Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident, saying that Samora Machel police registered an inquest for investigation after the body of an unknown female was found inside a toilet in Samora Machel Road on Friday 22 March.
He said a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
