Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of five people in Mandela Park, Khayelitsha on Saturday 9 April.


Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of five people in Mandela Park, Khayelitsha on Saturday 9 April.

Police believe they have made a breakthrough in connection with this shooting which left two people dead and three injured.

The shooting occurred around 01:30 and the suspects were arrested on Monday 11 April.

Capt Frederick Van Wyk, provincial spokesperson said Harare police attended to a shooting incident at about 01:30 where they encountered five victims with gunshot wounds. “Two of the victims died, while three survived the shooting and were taken to a nearby hospital for medical assistance. Police have worked around the clock in trying to solve the case and have managed to arrest three suspects this morning (Monday),” he said.

Van Wyk said the suspects aged 29, 32 and 40 will be charged for two counts of murder and three attempted murders.

He said once charged they will make a court appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court..
