He is very shy, but given a pen and paper Mivuyo Sixishe lets his talent shine through.

The 12-year-old from Zone 14 in Makhaza, is not only a household name at home, but among his peers at Isiphiwo Primary School as well.

The soft-spoken Grade 6 learner possesses remarkable drawing skills, something that stunned his parents. Daily, he produces some very striking artworks, including the dragon balls.

His proud mother, Asakhe Sixishe, told City Vision she would like to see her child explore his full potential. “When I first saw his drawings I couldn’t believe it. I was blown away to be honest. I remember I had an accident, and I had to sketch it, and he was the one who drew all that I had told him.

“I so wish his talent can be exposed so he reaches the sky. He lives for this. You hardly even see him playing soccer, other than doing his own drawings in his file.”

His father, Luvuyo Sixishe, said he was also “surprised” by his son’s drawings, a talent he also recently noticed. “I think he has been greatly influenced by his best friend at school, who tells us he also draws. So I think he got a lot of inspiration from there, and he has not looked back since.”

He said his son is also doing well at Maths and Biology. He hopes he continues to shine until he realises his own destiny. “I so wish he is exposed in an environment where his talent can be natured, so he doesn’t lose what he has.”

A shy Mivuyo said: “I love drawings. My friend taught me, and I have been doing it on my own since then.”

He said he would like to be a doctor when he grows up, so he can “help people” in need of medical assistance.
