Langa was ecstatic on Sunday 10 August over one of its own crowned International Boxing Organisation (IBO) All Africa champion in the Super Bantamweight Division.

Simankele ‘Sima’ Tutsheni (23) defeated Caleigh Swart in a unanimous points decision at Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, Johannesburg on Saturday 9 August.

Eight consecutive matches, three of them knockouts, led to Saturday’s match, which he described as one of the toughest.

She said she had been well prepared for the fight and it was her time to shine. “Swart didn’t have strong punches. I could have knocked her out during the match, but I decided to continue and entertain the crowd.”

Tutsheni, who works as a firefighter for Working on Fire, said preparing for the fight wasn’t easy because she works during the day and trained in the afternoon.

The Western Cape Bantamweight Champion said she was waiting for the promoters to announce the next opponent.

“Of my eight matches two were with Adidya Mimu and Pamela Matunga, both from Malawi. Of all my fights the toughest was against Pamela.”

The fight was at Sunningdale Sport Complex in September last year, which she described as “a humdinger”.

Tutsheni’s coach Felix Vengenayi, from Blood, Sweat and Tears stable, praised Tutsheni for fighting according to the game plan.

He described her as a hard puncher. “We knew the opponent’s weaknesses and strongest points,” he said. “We worked according to her weaknesses, and it worked for us.”

Vengenayi expressed his gratitude to all who had supported them before and during the match, and whom they will do their utmost never to disappoint.
