Fellow South Africans, it is that time again of the year when all citizens of the country must go out in large numbers to put their Xs on the ballot paper to elect the leaders of their choice.

There are only five days left until the election day and the time for change is now. This is our chance to put an end to all the problems we are currently facing as a country.

We need to stop complaining and do the right thing to go and vote.

Strangely, most of the people who are complaining are the ones who do not vote.

When people are not happy with the government they tend to abstain from the elections which causes them to suffer more.

We are spoilt for choice this year, we have more than 50 political parties on the ballot paper.

Everyone has an opportunity to elect the leader that he or she believes can lead this country. We need to stop moaning and do the right thing. As the black community, we were marginalised for many years by the apartheid regime. We were denied the right to vote. The time is now. Our former leaders sacrificed their lives for us to enjoy the freedom that we have today.

People like Solomon Mahlangu, Steven Biko and Chris Hani died for us to be able to be where we are today. Let’s not betray them, let’s go and vote. Our vote is our voice.

Our fellow brothers and sisters from the neighbouring countries are laughing at us, labelling us as spoilt brats. They say we complain about everything. They are accusing us of being lazy while we have all the resources at our disposal.

I’ve heard some political analysts comparing the upcoming elections to the 1994 polls. They said the opposition parties are breathing down the neck of the ruling party. All the parties are on the ground trying to lure the last voters.

We need to vote with our brains not with our hearts. We need a clean government, a government that will put the needs of the people first.
