Lwandle police officers managed to foil further house break-in incidents when catching three suspects driving a black Toyota Fortuner in the Lwandle police precinct on Thursday 13 April, about 12:30.

The members were on duty when they spotted the vehicle, which fitted the description of a car used in a house break-in in Masakhane Street, Lwandle on Wednesday 12 April.

The vehicle had three unknown male occupants.

A chase ensued, and the police managed to stop the vehicle in Overwacht Road and tactically approach it.

In their search they found a crowbar suspected to have been used in committing house break-ins.

The three suspects, aged between 25 and 35, were then arrested and the vehicle was confiscated.

Police had yet to link the suspects to other cases of house break-ins.

The suspects appeared in Strand Magistrates’ Court on Monday 17 April on charges of housebreaking and theft.

They were remanded in custody and expected to appear again on Monday 24 April for their bail application.
