Veteran politician and current Ward 38 councillor Thembisile Gladstone Ntamo has died.
He passed away in hospital yesterday morning (Thursday 18 August).
Ntamo served three terms as a councillor between 1996 and 2011 before being replaced by Khaya Yozi.
He returned to the position after the previous local government elections last year.
Family spokesperson Akhona Jonginamba said Ntamo died at the Rondebosch Medical Centre at 02:30.
“I received a call past 03:00 from his doctor informing me that he is no more,” he said, adding that the doctor cited cardiac arrest.
According to Jonginamba, Ntamo had been ill for a while. His condition deteriorated in 2020 following the passing of his father.
“He was in and out of hospital. He had heart problems,” he said.
