A young woman from Browns Farm has been arrested after she allegedly dumped her foetus in a temporary toilet last week.
The woman was nabbed after residents noticed that her T-shirt was wet around the breasts. Residents who had gathered at the scene decided to milk her in a quest to confirm their suspicions. The incident happened on Thursday 26 May. The foetus was reportedly found by street cleaners.
A resident, who only identified herself as MamJwarha for fear of victimisation, said the incident happened in the morning.
“I heard my neighbours talking, saying that there is a small baby that is found in the toilet. I went to see for myself and I saw it. The baby was looking complete. The foetus had everything including arms, hair etc. But I didn’t know about the gender because I was standing a bit far,” she said.
MamJwarha said following the discovery some residents went door to door where there were pregnant women.
“There are rumours that a young lady who is believed to be the mother was found. The community noticed that the t-shirt that she was wearing was wet on the chest. And when the community pressed the breast the milk came out and the woman was arrested immediately,” said MamJwarha.
Police spokesperson Sergt Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident. “An adult female was arrested and the investigation continues,” said Twigg.
