Maskhandi artist Landile Sokweba has made it again after he was nominated in the South African Traditional Music Achievement awards to be held at Mbombela in Mpumalanga on Saturday 1 October.

Sokweba, who is affectionately known in the music circle as Xhentsakumisiwe, has been nominated in the Best IsiXhosa Artist category for his song Usibali from his latest album Ibuyile Manejala.

He urged his supporters to vote for him as he hopes to clinch the award.

Xhentsakumisiwe said it is every artist’s dream to win these prestigious awards.

“Being nominated in the SATMA awards means a lot to me. That shows people recognise and love my music.

“So, coming back with an award will be a bonus to me,” he said, adding that the deadline for voting is on Saturday 24 September.

Xhentsakumisiwe, who is originally from Engcobo, has two albums under his belt and had been nominated in various categories during the 5th Annual Eastern Cape Music Awards held at Guild Theatre in East London last year.

During the ceremony he walked away with the Best Maskhandi Artist, Artist of the Year, and Most Voted Artist.

“With my first album I won three awards from the ECMA. And I’d love to keep the momentum. I know that SATMA is a huge event with well-known artists. But I’m hoping with the support of my music fans everything is possible,” he said.

Xhentsakumisiwe said those who want to vote for him can do so by sending SATMA242 on 49495.
